The Japanese people of ancient times created the art of weaving and making baskets from wild grapes. Yama-Biko is a brand that inherits this traditional culture that is being forgotten. We deliver new values to these tradition and resources, and resonate widely throughout the world.

職人がつくる籠

職人によって作られる籠はヒゴの幅や厚みが均一なため、丁寧に編み上げた模様も美しく仕上がります。また、デザインと強度のバランスを考慮して丁寧に作り込むためとても丈夫で、適切なメンテナンスを行い大切に扱っていただくことで親から子へ、子から孫へと受け継げるほど永くお使いいただけることも大きな特徴です。

Our artisans meticulously hand-weave each basket with perfectly uniform strips, creating beautiful, flawless patterns. Engineered for both elegance and exceptional durability, these baskets require only simple maintenance to become cherished family heirlooms, passed down from parent to child and grandchild.

編みの技術はその歴史を辿ると縄文時代にまで遡ります。その後も様々な職人により発展を続け、今では編み模様の種類は数百を超えるほどになり、様々な編み表現が生み出されてきました。
わたしたちもまた、その技術を継承し新しい編みの探究と現代の感性を取り入れた新しい籠製品の形を模索し続けています。

Our weaving techniques date back thousands of years to the Jomon period. Developed by countless artisans over centuries, there are now hundreds of unique patterns. Inheriting this profound history, we continue to explore new textures, combining ancient skills with contemporary sensibilities to create timeless baskets for modern life.

山葡萄籠の伝統的な編み技法を活かしたカゴ製品や、現代のニーズに応じた編み模様の開発、異なる素材との組み合わせで表現する独創的な製品を生み出しながら、山葡萄籠の文化を広く世界的に発信。その技術は国内のみならず、海外メディアやハイブランドからの評価も高く、国内外多数のブランドとのコラボレーション、製作実績を持っています。

また、山葡萄籠の普及と発展のため、職人の育成として山葡萄蔓の採取・ヒゴ造り・カゴ編みそれぞれに必要な技術を正確に取得できるよう山葡萄蔓籠編み教室を主宰。数多くの作家や手編みカゴ講師を輩出しています。

Noriyuki Funyu is the artisan who brings Yamabudo culture to the world by combining traditional techniques with unique materials and modern patterns. Celebrated by international luxury brands and media, he has a proven track record of elite collaborations. To preserve the craft, he also dedicates himself to training the next generation of artists and instructors.
